HALLOWEEN MOVIE PICKS!

Well Halloween is almost here to bad it's on a Monday this year. That just means that everyone will out and about this weekend, going trick or treating and going to Halloween parties. As for me I'll be watching some of my favorite Halloween movies. So here are my picks for Halloween movies this year. Mostly older movies as a lot of new movies are not even close to as good as the classics.

A Nightmare on Elm st. (Not the remake)

Night of the living dead. ( the color version or Black and white)

Day of the Dead ( Not the remake)

Dawn of the Dead (Not the remake)

The Exorcist

John carpenter's vampires

John carpenter's The thing.

That's the short list to get you all started. I'm sure more will show up as the weekend goes on.

Also feel free to add your own along the way.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!! :)

Recipe of the week!!

Today I'm thinking it's a good day for a recipe.

I've made this soup several times and it's always great, especially on a cold fall day.

Ham and Potato Soup

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
  • 1/3 cup diced celery
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup diced cooked ham also a ham bone will be good too but not needed.
  • 3 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules (2 bouillon cubes crushed works well also)
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Combine the potatoes, celery, onion, ham, ham bone and water in a stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the chicken bouillon, salt and pepper.
  2. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk as not to allow lumps to form until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove ham bone and Stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until heated through. Serve immediately.

Hope you enjoy this soup as much as I did.

My Walking Dead Review (My first review ever)

Wanted to give my opinion about the Show The Walking Dead. Now before I begin I should let you all know that I watched the whole first season all at once over the summer. I'm telling you that because I think watching it all at once I didn't notice how slow the show moves. As a giant fan of zombies with everything From the great work of Romero and all the living dead movies, to the very crappy work of Paul Anderson and his take on classic and great video game Resident Evil.

Turning a graphic novel into a TV show can be a hit or miss, Much like turning a Comic book into a movie. If the writing, character development, acting, ect. Don't mesh it can be a terrible nightmare. As we could see in Superman Returns and The Green Lantern. So anyway back to the Walking Dead, What I saw in the first season was very good. Having seen so many Zombie movies I'm not sure if it's just me or if others feel this way, but I must say even though the acting was better then average and the overall feel of the show is great. The subplot story line seemed like its been done befor
e. The whole best friend of the sheriff in love with the sheriff's wife. That's the best they could do for a subplot? Did they watch a soap opera the morning before they started writing. So other then that I thought a very great show so far in the first season.

I have seen the the first episode of the second season (spoiler Alert) I got to say I was hoping for more. Now I know people will say they have to do set up for the season but really a whole hour and a half of hiding under cars and looking for a missing kid? I was not impressed but I will continue to watch and hope it will get better. I'm sure it will as the first season did.

Let me know what you think.

I'll give updates as the season moves on.
So keep watching for more from The Zero Doctor.
